　The Fossa Magna Museum is an Earth Sciences and Natural History Museum where visitors can learn about how the Japanese Archipelago was created, where Itoigawa’s beautiful jade comes from and how our planet and the life upon it formed.

Visiting the Museum

Admission

○Fossa Magna Museum: ・Adults: 700 yen; ・Children 6 to 18: 300 yen; ・Children under 6: Free

○Joint Ticket with Chōjagahara Archaeological Museum (5 min walk)
: ・Adults: 800 yen; ・Children 6 to 18: 400 yen; ・Children under 6: Free

※Groups of 20 or more receive a discount of 100 yen per person.
※Visitors with a valid certificate of disability may enter free,
※100 yen discount for holders of Safe Driver cards.
※100 yen discount when you purchase tickets from Jaran Reservations or convenience stores.
※Discounts cannot be used together.

※Admission closes at 16:00.
Museum closes at 16:30.

Stone Identification

・Stone Identification is only available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays & Public Holidays: ※Available every day during the Obon Holiday (Aug 13—15); ※Not available during the New Year’s Holidays (Dec 28—Jan 4), during the Classic Car Revue (First Sunday in September, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and on days when the museum curators are not available.

: 10:00 - 12:00; 13:00 - 16:30

※There may be days when no curator is available to assist with stone identification. Please contact the museum before coming to confirm a curator’s availability.

Museum Facilities

There is no museum restaurant or café. Beverage vending machines are available in the entrance hall.
Food and beverages are permitted in the entrance hall, but prohibited in the exhibit rooms.
Multipurpose restrooms (accessible toilets) are available.
Diaper changing stations are available.
The museum does not have a dedicated breastfeeding room.
